The Digital Menu POS at Restaurant Giardino is Fit for a King!3 min read
Established in 1897, Kempinski Hotels is the oldest luxury hotel group in Europe. As a “founding member of the Global Hotel Alliance (GHA): the world’s largest alliance of independent hotels,” Kempinski is a collection of uniquely individual distinguished properties renowned as much for “impeccable personal service and superb hospitality” as they are for meeting the highest standards and demands of international luxury. Today, its ever-growing portfolio of 64 five-star hotels spans 28 countries. Each exclusive hotel in the Kempinski group is a member of the prestigious luxury hospitality organization known as The Leading Hotels of the World. Kempinski Hotel Corvinus Budapest (Kempinski Corvinus) is the organization’s first Hungarian member; its award-winning, fine dining venue, Restaurant Giardino, is the first restaurant in Hungary to present its wine list on a digital menu POS.
Named for King Matthias Corvinus, “one of Hungary’s most beloved Kings,” and located on Fashion Street, in the heart of Budapest’s famed fashion district, just a ninety minute-drive from Vienna and “a stone’s throw” from the Danube River Embankment, Kempinski Corvinus, offers guests a panoramic view, within walking distance, of the city’s incredible World Heritage Sites, such as the Castle District in Buda, the Royal Palace, the more than 700-year-old Matthias Church, the National Gallery, and Fishermen’s Bastion (Halászbástya), the Citadel atop Gellert Hill, Budapest Parliament in Pest, the Danube River Embankment, the Chain Bridge (Széchenyi Lánchíd), St. Stephen’s Basilica, Andrássy Avenue, the Budapest Opera House, Heroes’ Square, the Museum of Fine Arts, and the Szécheny Baths (you can learn about these and other World Heritage Sites in Budapest in the “Budapest Tourist Guide”). The digital menu POS offers guests at Kempinski Corvinus’ Restaurant Giardino a panoptic view of the hotel’s extensive collection of fine wines.
The hotel’s philosophy is that “It’s not good enough to simply provide a hotel bed and a meal, at Kempinski it’s all about bringing a story to life.” In keeping with the Kempinski philosophy, the digital menu POS at Restaurant Giardino brings the story of each wine to life with an engaging introduction to Kempinski Corvinus’ wine collection that piques the interest of its guests, then takes them on a virtual tour of the hotel’s wine cellar — replete with high-resolution color photography, detailed descriptions of each label, wine reviews, tasting notes provided by the sommelier, interactive maps of the represented vineyards, and the sommelier’s recommended food pairings.
Guests can use the digital menu POS to explore the vast variety of grapes, vineyards, regions, colors, or styles in the collection or find the perfect bottle of wine to complement the “luxurious array of Hungarian and international treats,” prepared by Executive Chef Roland Holzer – perhaps one of Kempinski’s “vast variety of the best Hungarian or Mediterranean wines” to accompany Restaurant Giardino’s inspired Corvinus Cuisine of traditional local dishes, interpretive Hungarian cuisine, or light Mediterranean grills, or a Champagne or Bordeaux from Kempinski’s extensive selection to accompany one of the Chef Holzer’s gourmet seasonal specialties.
With its new digital menu POS, guests at Restaurant Giardino will truly be inspired! King Corvinus would certainly be proud!
