iPad Digital Menu Display Lets You Do it All at Atlanta’s new hot spot!3 min read

digital menu displayThink of it as dinner re-wired! Atlanta’s posh new pizza restaurant, do (pronounced “dough”) – with its white Italian leather couches, 14’ x 20’ waterfall, 40’ lit bar, and spectacular balcony view of the Atlanta skyline — is not just another contemporary casual dining restaurant or Wi-Fi hotspot. It’s a unique, immersive dining experience — inspired by music, infused with technology, and made possible by the iPad digital menu.

The seamless integration of theatrical lighting, performance-level sound, 270° of seamless streaming video wall-mapping, and interactive iPad digital menu display technology, with great food and attentive service, was designed and developed by none other than audiovisual production guru Christian Ruffin, himself — one of the restaurant’s two owners. Ruffin, who re-orchestrated and re-purposed his earlier masterpiece, The View — the 5,000 square-foot, high-end, high-tech, special event facility at King Plow Arts Center — for do, is CEO and President of One Stop Productions — The View’s in-house production and event planning team.

The other owner of do is Ruffin’s wife, Nacasha, Vice-President of Operations for One Stop Productions. Nacasha, who describes herself as a health-conscious foodie, created the artfully-named selections (from preludes/appetizers to finales/desserts) for the iPad digital menu.

Christian Ruffin is quick to point out that do is not about the audiovisual production; it’s about the dining experience. At the heart of the guest experience at do is the iPad digital menu in its sleek docking station atop every table. From the iPad digital menu display, guests can place their order, make special requests, call the server, change the playlist, pay their tab, and even ring the valet after dinner to bring them their car. Guests can also use their iPad digital menu to interact with other tables in the restaurant’s private chat room, request a song, and get other guests to vote for it. Garner enough votes and do will play your selection and stream the music video onto the wrap-around wall.

The iPad digital menu display – controlled dining extravaganza at do, which opened to the public on May 5th, is a hit! The grand-opening on April 30th was a star-studded event. Guests included music industry heavyweights Devyne Stephens (CEO of Upfront Megatainment), Keinon Johnson (National Director Of Urban Promotions at Interscope Records), Chaka Zulu (co-founder and CEO of Disturbing Tha Peace/DTP Records, Aldrin “DJ Toomp” Davis (award-winning record producer), Bryce Wilson (record producer, musician, and actor), Nate Butler (songwriter, music and vocal producer, and recording artist), Mali Hunter (recording artist, General Manager and Sr. Vice-President of Producer Relations at Treesound Studios), Kenny Burns (celebrated “Lifestyle Specialist”), and Ryan Cameron (award-winning radio host and voice of the Atlanta Hawks); fashion designer, Mychael Knight; “The Real Housewives of Atlanta” star, Sheree Whitfield; and a full roster of NFL players – Taeo Spikes (linebacker, San Francisco 49ers), Calvin Pace (linebacker, New York Jets), Philip Wheeler (linebacker, Indiana Colts), Ovie Mughelli (fullback, Atlanta Falcons), and Ellis Hobbs (cornerback, Philadelphia Eagles).

But, the celebrities will tell you that the real star at do is the iPad digital menu.
