Digital iPad Menus Being Used to Promote Hotel Excellence3 min read

The next time you book a suite at a fancy hotel, make sure that you check and compare amenities that are being offered, as more and more of them are starting to implement digital iPad menus for ordering room service or drinks as an added feature for guests.

It seems that digital iPad menus are not only taking over the restaurant world as we know it, but they are also slowly making their way into five star hotels and uber luxurious get-aways around the world.

We last reported about a new luxury hotel in Bangkok that was planning to offer digital iPad menus in all of their rooms so guests could order room service and beverages using the desirable touch screens. Sofitel So Bangkok, which is set to open for business in 2012, is the place we first mentioned.

But the digital iPad menus trend is seemingly gaining more popularity as other notable hoteliers are quickly realizing that the luxury hotel rooms of tomorrow should be outfitted with the convenient technologically enhanced touch screen devices of today.

ScanAsia.com reports that Pan Pacific Kuala Lumpur has plans to add digital iPad menus to their rooms for patrons to use to order room service and beverages, too.

The general manager, Hans G. Winsnes, told Scanasia.com of the undertaking of this new amenity, stating, “The hotel has been doing very well over the years and we’ve had the opportunity to undertake projects that others can only dream of.”

The hotel already offers some pretty impressive amenities for guest.

“We have been the only five-star hotel at the airport and enjoyed good business, supported by a great workforce and have been able to focus on quality all the way. This is truly a city hotel at an airport with extensive 24-hour-services. We have regularly been introducing new services for our customers,” Winsnes said. “We now have a check-in desk out at the international arrival hall, with buggy transportation straight to the lobby. We offer modern facilities and free internet to all our customers.”

But the next step, according to Winsnes, is to adding a more modern amenities to rooms, such as the planned addition of digital iPad menus.

“We want to provide top modern facilities meeting the expectations of today’s discerning traveller,” he said.

The forthcoming ‘revolutionary digital food and beverage menu system’ will allow for guests to order room service directly from digital iPad menus that are provided in each room.

These digital iPad menus are a sound investment for keeping customers satisfied, according to Winsnes.

“The hardware is one thing, but the most important in all hotels will always be our associates that are dedicated to their roles, and that’s what speaks volumes. Guest demands are steadily increasing and you must find a balance between giving the associates more time for personal interaction with guests and eliminating boring and repetitive tasks,” he said. “Now we have machines and other solutions to use in our production and in other areas to monitor certain systems. This leaves us with more time to do what we love; which is to interact with our valued customers and ensuring them a memorable experience.”
