New Luxury Hotel in Bangkok to Offer iPad Digital Menus for Room Service2 min read
Seemingly, the application of iPad digital menus are endless, as more and more places of business add them as a very desirable high-tech amenity in order to entice guests and attract them – not to mention boosting sales and improving overall customer retention rates.
The newest place that has added these innovative iPad digital menus is the Sofitel So Bangkok, which is set to open for business in 2012.
The hotel plans on outfitting all 238 luxury rooms with an Apple Mac Mini, which will easily synch up with any other Apple devices that guests have, such as their iPhone, iPad and so on, and allow for them to order movies, call room service, the front desk, check out and much more.
The computers will have a built in “history erase” feature to protect guests’ identities, and they will feature wireless keyboards as well as free wi-fi internet access. Guests who book the suites will also get to use iPad digital menus – that will be offered to all guests upon arrival – which they can also use to browse the room service menu and place an order.
According to Gilles Cretallaz, the general manager, “Today, the personal computer is integral to an evolving lifestyle, the digital lifestyle, and people are coming to expect that what is central to their lives at home and in the office should also be available when they travel,” he told the press.
“This is what we are providing, meeting needs in a way that guests are now coming to expect. It’s all part of what the Sofitel So brand represents – the recognition of a new generation of urban hotels that are technologically innovative and design oriented. It is also a very ‘green’ concept as with more on screen, the less paper used and the less waste,” he said.
